WIC staffers thank health department
April 1 to 7 was National Public Health Week, and the staff members at Women, Infants and Children would like to thank the Randolph-Elkins Health Department for its support of WIC.
The health department refers pregnant and breastfeeding women and children younger than 5 to the WIC program. At WIC, the clients receive prenatal nutrition guidance and breastfeeding counseling by trained staff.
The parents of the children gain a better understanding of children’s nutritional needs and behaviors. WIC also provides appropriate supplemental food packages for each client’s needs.
To find out more about WIC, anyone interested can contact a local office, go online to ons.wvdhhr.org or dial 211.
