Playground equipment gets fresh paint

The fifth-graders at Hodgesville Elementary School decided they would like to complete a community service project for their elementary school before moving on to Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School. Students agreed to paint several pieces of playground equipment that hadn’t been painted for several years.

Because of inclement weather, the project didn’t get completed during the school year, so students and parents returned to school June 14 to complete the project.

School leaders thanked Lowe’s for donating paint as well as several parents for donating paint, paintbrushes, sandpaper and their time. They said Fox’s Pizza graciously delivered pizza for a lunch treat.

Assisting with the project were Kevin, Susie, Autumn, Brooklyn and Lanie Herron; Andrew Carrico; Becki and Kayla Knabenshue; Amber and Jade Kesling; Alan, Amber and Allison Tenney; Emily Tenney; and Payton Knicely. Because of all of the hard work these people were willing to give, Hodgesville Elementary School students will return to a colorful playground in August.
