West Virginia Wesleyan College will welcome Dr. Ken Krimmel, superintendent of the Little Kanawha District of the West Virginia Annual Conference, as the preacher for Family Weekend, Friday through Sunday, Sept. 27-29, on the Buckhannon campus.

Krimmel is a 1981 Wesleyan graduate with a bachelor’s degree in religion and minor in psychology. In 1984, he graduated from Drew University Theological School with a Master of Divinity, and in 1987, he completed an extended unit of clinical pastoral education at the University of Virginia Medical Center. From 1987-91, Krimmel was involved in spiritual direction through the Cenacle House.

In 1991, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary where his doctoral project and thesis was entitled, “Spirituality and Healing in the Mainline Church,” which is an examination of the healing ministry from a Wesleyan perspective.

Krimmel served as a local church pastor for 26 years prior to his appointment to the cabinet in 2008. He served the Ellamore Charge; the Riverton Charge in Pendleton County; St. Mark’s Associate in Charleston; St. Mary’s in Beckley; and Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley, where he served for 13 years. For the past 11 years, Krimmel has taught religious studies at WVU-P, Jackson County Center. He served as on-call chaplain at CAMC General from 1987-1989, and served as a volunteer chaplain at Jackson General Hospital from 1995-2008.

Having held a number of leadership responsibilities in the West Virginia Conference over the past 30 years, Krimmel previously served as the chairperson of the conference Legislative Task Force; chairperson of the conference Episcopacy committee; chairperson of the conference Rules committee; registrar and dean of Pastors’ School; dean of Summer Youth Celebration; registrar and chairperson of the Little Kanawha District Committee on Ordained Ministry; and as district clergy chairperson of the conference Hope for Tomorrow campaign. Currently, Krimmel serves as dean of the West Virginia Conference Cabinet.

Having a deep love for youth ministry, he has been a strong advocate for youth and young adult ministries in the annual conference. Krimmel is married to Ellen with a blended family consisting of four young adult children: Greg, Amy, Natalya and Lydia.
