Celebrate the season with ON TRAC

The community is invited to celebrate the holiday season in style with Elkins ON TRAC at the Downtown Holiday Soiree from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 .

The Seneca Mall Atrium will be transformed to a winter wonderland for the holiday event which will feature live music, wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres prepared by downtown restaurants.

Ann Macomber, chair of ON TRAC’s Organization Committee, said the group has planned a lovely evening of fine food and entertainment for guests.

Wine will be provided by Stone Road Vineyard of Elizabeth. Using quality grapes and traditional techniques, proprietors David and Lynne Stone craft vintage wines that celebrate West Virginia heritage.

Savory appetizers will accompany the wine. Henry G’s, Kissel Stop Cafe, Mee Mee’z Cafe will showcase their specialties for soiree guests. Good Energy Foods will also offer a sampling of tasty snacks. Coffee or hot apple cider, provided by Brewstel, will compliment a selection of sweet treats prepared and served by ON TRAC volunteers.

Jazz musicians Scott Green and Seth Maynard will be the night’s featured entertainment.

An instructor at Third Ward Elementary School and West Virginia Wesleyan College, Green is also a composer and arranger, church organist and music director for the Old Brick Playhouse Apprentices. He is a longtime member of West Virginia University’s Miltenberger Jazz Quartet, and performs each summer in musical shows produced by West Virginia Public Theatre.

Maynard serves as Adjunct Music Faculty at Davis & Elkins College and records local talent at Lone Wolf Productions in Elkins.

The well-known local musician performs as many as 120 shows each year at various local and regional venues with his group, Osmosis, and others including JB Tenney, ZEN and The Ginsangers.

A collaboration with other area musicians, Maynard’s CD, “Make the Season Bright”(2012,) is filled with unique versions of many holiday favorites which may be performed as part of the soiree program.

Music for the evening is sponsored by Davis Trust Company.

In addition to enjoying fine music, food and wine, all soiree guests will be eligible to win door prizes. Hopscotch, Talbott Frameshop, TD’s Classic Ts, Third Street Trading Company and other downtown businesses have donated wrapped gifts for drawings which will be held throughout the evening.

Guests can also purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win one of a pair of ski lift tickets contributed by Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

An auction of beautiful Christmas trees decorated by downtown businesses and supporters will highlight the event. Contributors include the city of Elkins, Elkins Sewing Center, Family Dental, Gandy Dancer, Henry G’s, Jerry Corley, JoJo’s, Kissel Stop, Sewing for the Season, Steer Steakhouse, The Fashion Closet and Victorian Emporium. Elkins ON TRAC also decorated a tree for the auction.
