Locals attend state farm bureau meeting

Randolph County Farm Bureau members James D. Dean, Wendy Thurston, Jean Knavanshue, Portia Dean and Dokota Pritt were among the more than 350 people to attend the 94th annual meeting of the state farm bureau in Flatwoods last month.

Current farm bureau policies were reviewed and new policies were adopted.

Delegates also elected Charles Wilfong of Pocahontas County to serve as president and John Pitsenbarger of Nicholas County to serve as vice president.

Delegates of the Women’s Leadership Committee, including Knavanshue and Dean, selected Pam Hessler from Morgan County as committee chairman and Susan Wilkins from Pocahontas County as chairman of the Young Farmer Committee. Both also will serve on the state farm bureau’s Board of Directors.

During the meeting, the Randolph County Farm Bureau was recognized for achieving its 2013 membership quota.

The Randolph County Farm Bureau is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Dining Hall at Camp

Pioneer.
