Students chosen for service academics

CHARLESTON Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., has announced that he will nominate two Elkins High School students to U.S. service academies. The students are Cayla Collett, to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and Tyler Kenney to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

The students are among 45 West Virginia students Manchin will nominate to service academies. Admission is decided by the service academy.

Manchin said, “West Virginia has built a reputation of service and sacrifice, and I am extremely proud of Cayla and Tyler for their commitment to carrying on our state’s proud tradition.

These bright, young leaders have worked hard in the classroom and in the community to earn these nominations, and it is with great honor that I recommend their talents to the U.S. service academies.”
