Ruf will sing at annual banquet

Jana Ruf, a teacher at the Belington Elementary School, will sing familiar songs of West Virginia during the annual banquet meeting of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce.

The evening program will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception for CONSOL Energy Vice President Larry Cavallo, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 7 in the dining rooms of Alderson Broaddus University. The public is invited. Prepaid reservations must be made with the Chamber Office before Feb. 28.

Ruf was a member of the PB Singers at Philip Barbour High School and a prominent member of The West Virginians before graduating from Alderson-Broaddus College. She holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from West Virginia University and is in her 25th year of teaching. She is an online eLearning Facilitator for the West Virginia Department of Education.

Her musical program will include “The West Virginia Hills” and “Country Roads,” accompanied by local musician Rick Kennedy.
