Concert slated at Buckey House in Beverly

The public is invited to come hear Jenifer Jackson and the Texas Gentlemen perform a house concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the historic Buckey House in Beverly.

Jackson, a well-known musician, singer and composer living in Austin, Texas, is launching her 11th album titled “Texas Sunrise.”

Jackson said, “My new album is a true example of ‘it takes a village.’ A group of my most talented friends in Austin have pitched in with their hearts, souls and talents to make this new record a

reality.”

This collection of 12 original songs was inspired by the usual elements that have characterized Jackson: love, nature, longing, happiness and now, Texas. From the haunted western tinge of “The Ballad of Time Gone By” to the old time dancehall swing of “Sad Tear Drops” and the broken-hearted jukebox waltz “Heart With a Mind of Its Own,” living in Texas and dancing at her neighborhood honky tonk has seasoned Jackson’s writing with a little country sway.

“My connection to nature permeates the music, as does the unshakable themes of nostalgia and melancholy the continue to color my writing and my life,” Jackson said.

The Buckey House is located at 10 Main St. (Rt. 219) in historic downtown Beverly. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday. There will be two sets of music with refreshments served at intermission. Reservations are not required, but are really appreciated. The cost is $5 for students and AmeriCorps, $10 for everyone else.
