Broaddus Hospital sponsors 5K

PHILIPPI – Broaddus Hospital is sponsoring a 5K Run/Walk on May 3 in Philippi.

Last year’s event attracted over 70 runners and walkers and raised $1,200 for the Barbour County Relay for Life.

The run/walk will begin with registration from 89 a.m. at the Barbour County Courthouse in downtown Philippi. The event begins at 9 a.m. Entrants can pre-register by downloading a form atwww.davishealthsystem.org or by contacting Donna Jones at 304-457-8520.

“We would love to have people from the region turn out in support of the race and the American Cancer Society’s Barbour County Relay event,” said Donna Jones, event coordinator. “There will be other activities occurring downtown that day so it’s a great way to kick off many fun, healthy events.”

The 2013 Barbour County Relay for Life event raised more than $67,000.

Awards for runners will go to the top three male and female overall, and the top three in each group. Awards for walkers will go to the top two.

The first 75 persons to register before April 25 will receive a t-shirt. All pre-registered children age 10 and under will receive a medal.
