Par Mar Stores to host kickoff event today

ELKINS- Par Mar Stores will kick off a multi-week campaign to raise funds for the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia with an event at 11 a.m. today at the store at 779 Beverly Pike in Elkins.

The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia assisted more than 13,000 West Virginia children in 2013. There are approximately 4,000 West Virginia children in some type of out-of-home care today due to crisis in the family. In addition, there are 1,200 children in need of adoption.

The public is encouraged to

attend.

Brightly colored paper flowers will be sold for one dollar at this and other Par Mar locations. Funds raised through the effort will be used to support child assistance programs, such as emergency child shelters, foster care, adoption, mentoring, early intervention and numerous other family support programs offered by the Children’s Home Society.

This statewide campaign is being conducted by the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association (OMEGA) and their members, like Par Mar. The campaign will run through Mother’s Day, May 11.
