Free shooting event for youth planned

The Mountaineer Chapter of Izaak Walton League of America will be hosting one of their two annual Youth Air Rifle/Pistol Shooting Events on May 18.

This event is free and open to children age 817 years old and will be held at the Tygart Valley Muzzleloaders shooting range, located up the road from the Chapter’s clubhouse. The Mountaineer Chapter’s clubhouse is located approximately 6 miles straight up Files Creek Road in Beverly.

You may call 304-636-0916 for more information or directions. All kids participating will listen to a range and shooting safety presentation prior to the event by Range Captain and Retired Conservation Officer Corp. Ray Mearns.

Registration for the event will start at 12:30 p.m. at the shooting range, with the event starting at 1 p.m. This event is made possible through grants from the NRA, National IWLA Endowment Funding and the Mountaineer Chapter.
