Appalachian Impact camps offered

Appalachian Impact is a Christian, community-based, non-profit, youth development organization committed to building hope in children and youth in Upshur County and the north central region of West Virginia.

Through mentoring relationships, summer community camps (reading, writing and the arts), as well as cohort development, officials are seeking to transform our region with positive youth impact.

Appalachian Impact is open to children that will be entering into third through sixth grade for the 2014-2015 school year. The summer camps will be at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School beginning July 7 through Aug. 1. Appalachian Impact Camps will end in a huge showcase of all the participants’ accomplishments throughout the four-week period. The camp’s doors will open at 7:30 a.m. but begin at 8 a.m. and run until 1 p.m.

The Appalachian Impact Camp will consist of a literacy and an arts camp in which the children will learn core values that will instill hope and encourage them to follow their dreams and make a difference in society. Not only will the camps focus on literacy and the arts, but the camps will have a strong part in service projects around the community. There is a fee for the camp which covers food, supplies and field trips.
