Easton earns doctorate

Tanya Kittle Easton, a native of Elkins, recently received the Ed.D. in higher education administration from West Virginia University during May commencement ceremonies.

She is currently executive director of development and alumni relations at The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C.

Easton’s career has included stints at Salem College (now Salem International University), West Virginia Wesleyan and Alderson Broaddus University, where she served at various times as vice president for advancement and as vice president for enrollment management.

Easton was nominated and chosen as one of 20 participants nationwide from independent colleges for the 2012-2013 Executive Leadership Academy (ELA). Sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and the American Leadership Institute, the ELA prepares vice presidents for academic presidential

service.

Easton is married to Edward Easton, vice president for garage sales at Tech Painting Inc. in Alexandria, Va. They are the parents of four children, including Ed’s three daughters, Abigail Easton, a student at WVU; Isabella Easton, a rising freshman at Valencia College in Florida; Sophia Easton, a high school student; and Nathan Guye Shelton, Tanya’s son, a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, whose father is Hayes Shelton of Elkins.Easton is the daughter of Beth Guye Kittle of Elkins and the late Howard M. Kittle.
