ERCC approved to offer services to military veterans
ELKINS – In a move that the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center (ERCC) has sought to bring about since February, the center’s administrator announced that qualified United States military veterans are eligible for long-term care at the Randolph County facility.
“We are honored and pleased that we are now able to serve – and to thank – the veterans in our area in a way that we haven’t been able to in the past. We have received approval from the federal Veterans Administration to offer long-term care to many of the veterans in our region,” said ERCC Administrator Denise Campbell.
“We are extremely happy that we’ve been approved for this service, because it will give many veterans in our region the opportunity to stay close to home,” Campbell said. “This helps the veterans themselves, and it helps the families tremendously.”
ERCC’s acquisition of the services contract with the Veterans Administration has been a lengthy process, Campbell said. The facility completed numerous surveys, questionnaires and background checks leading to its approval as a certified provider.
ERCC, one of the state’s largest and most widely recommended facilities of its type, offers a wide range of rehabilitative and daily care services. ERCC’s nursing staff includes more than 75 professionals that work with physicians to provide a full range of care.
ERCC also employs two physical therapists and a PT assistant, as well as occupational and speech therapists. ERCC employs more than 150 full-time and part-time staff members.
“We have a variety of specialized services that we are able to offer veterans. I just can’t stress how pleased we are to be able to serve veterans and our community in this way,” Campbell said.
To determine eligibility for services, a veteran or family member may call Michelle Chenoweth, ERCC’s director of social services, at 304-636-1391, Ext. 216, or email email@example.com.
Campbell indicated that she wouldn’t be surprised to receive inquiries not only from Randolph County, but from neighboring counties as well. ERCC serves residents from Randolph, Pocahontas, Tucker, Barbour and Upshur counties.
