GFWC Junior Woman’s Club installs officers

The GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Elkins recently installed the club’s new officers for the 2014-2016 club years with a year-end banquet.

The installation was held on May 7, on the veranda of Graceland overlooking Elkins. The new officers were installed by the GFWC West Virginia State Juniors President Mary Mullins.

The new officers for the 2014-2016 years are as follows: Stephanie Warner, president; Angie Goff, president elect; Mycha Kalar, first vice president of membership; Andrea Tonkin, second vice president of finance; Angie Goff, secretary; Paige White, treasurer; and Shannon Shiflett, parliamentarian.

Mullins thanked the club for asking her to participate in the installation of officers. She presented Warner with a small gift. The club also presented Mullins with a gift.

Warner and Goff gave a few words of appreciation to the club for the upcoming club years. Warner and Goff both echoed the same sentiments, that Elkins Juniors have a lot of work to do and that they will accomplish all of their goals. Both ladies expressed thanks to the club for entrusting them with the roles placed upon them for the next two years.

Also during the evening, Mullins recognized Goff for being named Northern District Junior of the Year for 2013/2014 and also presented her with the blue and the red membership stars. Membership stars are given to club members who recruit five or more members into the club. Other honors that were awarded during the banquet were given to Tonkin for Club Junior of the Year and Julene Kennedy for Club Rookie of the Year. Both of these ladies were given a small gift from the club.

New members that were taken into the club are Kathie Staten, Kennedy and Moriah Warner.

The evening ended with a group picture overlooking Elkins and a tour of Graceland and Halliehurst mansions.
