H.A.S. hosts graduation

The Highland Adventist School recently hosted its high school commencement. The class celebrated the event with a full house of family and friends at the Old Brick Theater in Elkins.

The commencement speaker, H.A.S. teacher Jeremy Jacko, encouraged each member of the class to work toward noble goals that would honor God and their families. Each member of the class spoke to the crowd in response to that challenge. Diplomas were presented by H.A.S. board chairman Thomas Blanzy.

“I am very impressed with this outstanding class of students,” said Cheryl Jacko, principal. “One of our seniors will be leaving for a career in the Navy at the end of the summer. We are very proud of his decision and commitment to our country.

“The remaining three seniors are all collegebound and have been awarded more than $200,000 in university scholarships for outstanding academics. In addition we have two West Virginia Promise Scholars in the group. Our community can be very proud of this class. We also thank the Old Brick Playhouse for allowing us to use their facility for this event.”
