Nesland wins Chamber Scholarship
The Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Academic Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating senior at Philip Barbour High School, and is awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding commitment to the community and who has the ability to be an entrepreneur and leader.
This year’s recipient is Scott Nesland. He was part of the HOSA Biomedical Debate State Champions, a successful cross country runner, a three-year letterman in soccer, a four-year letterman in track and a four-year letterman in band.
He participated in the West Virginia University Honors Band and the Alderson Broaddus University Honors Wind Ensemble. Nesland plans to attend Alderson Broaddus University and obtain a degree in
biology.
Upon graduation from ABU, he expects to pursue a degree in medicine, as either a pediatrician or pediatric physician’s assistant.
“Good luck in your future endeavors!” said Michael Cvechko of the Barbour County Community Foundation and Cvechko Insurance Services, as he presented Nesland’s award.
