Philippi Public Library team Runs For It

On Sept. 27, a team of runners and walkers representing the Philippi Public Library will participate in the Tucker Community Foundation Run For I” in Davis.

“This is the fifth year the library team has participated in the annual race during the Leaf Peeper’s Festival,” said Judy Buckner Larry, the library’s director and team captain. “Come out and support your local library and have a good time in the process.”

The money generated by the library’s team this year for the Run For It will go toward matching the library’s West Virginia Grant-in-Aid, to meet operational expenses, update library services and programs and maintain an aging facility.

The library strives to provide quality materials, programs and services which fulfill the educational, informational, cultural and recreational needs of the community and fosters lifelong learning. It does so by offering an array of services, programs and classes for children, teens and adults.

“From last year’s race,” Larry said, “we learned that a larger team produces larger results. Consequently, we are calling all walkers and runners to become members of the Philippi Public Library team for the Tucker Community Foundation’s annual 2K walk or 5K run on Saturday, Sept. 27, on the streets of Davis.”

For those who are unable to walk or run but still want to help, the library is also seeking much-need sponsors and a matching donor. The donations are tax-deductible and all Philippi Public Library team donations will go to the Philippi Public Library. Registration and donor forms are available at the library. For more information, call Larry at the Philippi Public Library at 304-457-3495.
