Training seminar offered

Central West Virginia Aging Services, a “one stop” social services agency, is pleased to announce an exciting one day training seminar presentation at the Bicentennial Inn, located at West Main Street in Buckhannon, on June 12.

Continuing education credit hours will be provided for registered nurses, licensed social workers and licensed practical nurses attending this conference.

Evelyn Post, executive director, states that the morning and afternoon seminars will now provide a total of seven hours credit for each professional. The event is open to the public for attendance.

Advance registration and payment is required.

The morning session will be presented by Patty Marino Deutsch, with First Choice and the Problem Gamblers Help Network of West Virginia. This workshop will address the “State of Addictions in West Virginia” with a focus on the “Grey-haired Gamblers” population and the grave concerns related to seniors losing their nest eggs through their involvement with gambling parlors, casinos and bingo halls.

This presentation promises to be a unique, enlightening opportunity addressing the socioeconomic impact of addictions.

The afternoon session provides information related to a frequently requested topic: “Alzheimer’s and related Dementias.”

This engaging workshop will address a practical approach from defining dementia to tips to enable more effective communication with someone with dementia. Additionally, Nancy Cipoletti, from the West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services, will also provide attendees with a unique opportunity to interact and learn through actual case studies in addressing a lively interactive session with “Caring, Common Sense and Life Lessons.” This workshop will focus on details that will benefit the attendee both professionally and personally.

All classes are open for public attendance. Registration fees are mandatory for attendance.

Advance registration and payment is required for attendance. Please contact Jonnie George at jgeorge@frontier.com or call 304-472-0395 for a Conference Brochure. Conference registration closes
