Health care scholarships given to 11

The late M. William Adler died in 2002, but his name is carried on through the annual Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital’s (SJMH) scholarship

program.

Eleven new recipients will be receiving help with their schooling as winners this year. The scholars include five students graduating from Gilmer County High School; four from Lewis County High School, and one from Buckhannon Upshur High School.

The M. William Adler Scholarship has provided close to $150,000 in funds for local students. At least 80 students have benefited from the program. Adler was a long-time board member of SJMH and a great proponent of education. The hospital decided that providing scholarships for local students going into a healthcare field would be a wonderful way to honor Adler.
