ON TRAC invites artists for Street Fair

Elkins ON TRAC invites local artists to participate in the fourth annual Artists Gather Street Fair in downtown Elkins from 3 to 7 p.m. Aug. 1.

Third Street will be closed from Davis Avenue to Kerens Avenue to create a venue for artists to display and sell their work. The street fair will be held in conjunction with First Friday activities.

“We are proud to showcase the work of our local artists each year at the Artists Gather Street Fair,” said Executive Director Karen Carper. “First Fridays have grown recently, and this event is a great compliment to other downtown business activities planned for the first Friday of August.”

First Friday plans for August include an Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. at the new Fancy Paws pet grooming and boutique on the corner of Third Street and Davis Avenue. Other businesses will also stay open late and offer First Friday specials.

Products brought for sale at the street fair must be produced by vendors. Artists are welcome, as are crafters and vendors selling items such as homemade breads, jams and jellies. Vendors are encouraged to provide demonstrations and interactive activities for spectators, especially children. One 8-foot table will be provided per vendor. Electricity is not available. Booth set up will begin at 2 p.m. Sales begin at 3 p.m.

Tents are not provided, but are recommended to offer shade during the street fair. The street can get very hot, and sun may also damage some art and craft products, Carper said.

A nominal registration fee will be charged to help cover expenses. Optional membership in the Friends of Elkins ON TRAC includes registration and provides admission to other ON TRAC events and activities at a reduced rate for the full membership year.

Registration forms are available by email request to info@elkinsontrac.org. Forms should be completed and sent with payment to Elkins ON TRAC, 421 Davis Ave. #2, Elkins WV 26241 by July 21. A confirmation email will be sent with directions and instructions for set up.

If email is not available, forms may be requested by phone at 304-704-6911.
