Pageants combined at Tucker Fair

The Queen Daphne pageant will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday during the Tucker County Fair at Camp Kidd Park. The children’s pageant has been moved to Wednesday also and will be done first.

Queen Daphne Contestants

Kelsey Ann Kyle, 17, is the daughter of David and Amber Kyle of Parsons and the granddaughter of Gary and Ann Moats of Grafton. She has two sisters, Kensie and Karley.

Kelsey is a senior at TCHS where she is on the varsity track team, is a varsity cheerleader, FCA leader, member of Young Life, and HSTA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, is on the principal’s list and has been a student of the month. She is a NCA and UCA All-American cheerleader, a state champion in shuttle hurdle relay, played soccer for six years, has danced at Dance Chambers Studio for 13 years and was a Monarch Miss at the Miss West Virginia Pageant for five years. Her favorite food is pancakes. She is also a member of the Church of the Covenant.

Her career ambition is to become a traveling doctor.

Tana Rachelle Smith, 19, is the daughter of Roger and Beckie Smith of Parsons and the granddaughter of Gwen and the late Elmer Roy and the late Teddy Jolly and Roger and Ginger Smith, Sr. of St. George.

Tana is a graduate of TCHS and is currently attending her second year at Pierpont Community & Technical Collage. She was an honor student all thru high school and a completer in V Ag. She is currently a member of the FSWU marching drum line. She attends the Good Tiding Assembly of God Church. She loves peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. She loves to hunt and fish, target shooting, archery and guns, reading, playing and learning more about drums, horseback riding and doing pageants.

Tanas’s goal is to obtain a teaching degree in Vo Ag.

Amanda Faye Harper, 16, is the daughter of Harold and Kim Harper of St. George and the granddaughter of Gary and Janet Nestor, Carol and the late Charles Hebb, Jr., Junior and the late Evelyn Harper and Leota Parsons. She has two brothers, Harold Jr. and Travis.

She is a Junior at TCHS, is an honor student, all star student, on the track team, a 4-H member, a Golden Horseshoe winner, won fourth place in the WV Heat Cooking competition, and won third place in the WV Skills USA Baking and Pastry Competition. She attends the Sycamore Grove Church, and volunteers as a counselor at V.O.C., a camp for underprivileged children. She likes coffee, gummy bears and popcorn with taco sauce.

Amanda’s career ambition is to become a pastry chef.

Lindsay Elizabeth Knotts, 16, is the daughter of Tim and Pam Knotts of Hambleton and the granddaughter of Linda and the late Harold Helmick and the late Junior and Cornell Knotts. She has one brother, Travis.

She is a junior at TCHS, a member of the National Junior Honor Society, FFA treasurer, 4-H secretary, placed first at a regional FFA Creed Contest and competed at the state level, attended the National FFA Convention and has started raising sheep. Her hobbies include FFA, 4-H, farming, hunting, fishing and baking. Her career ambition is to be a veterinary tech.

Junior Miss Contestants

Autumn Jenee KNotts, 11, is the daughter of Tim and Heather Knotts of Parsons and the granddaughter of John and Dottie Nestor and Rick and Betty Largessee of Hambleton. She has one sister, Sidney, age 2.

She is a 6th grade student at TVEMS, attends the youth group at the Hambleton United Methodist Church and attends Sunday school at the Parsons Church of God. Her career ambition is to become a doctor.

Cassidy Susan Davis, 10, is the daughter of V. J. and Angie Davis of Hambleton and the granddaughter of Verl and Elsie Davis of Parsons. She has one brother, Luke.

Cassidy is a 5th grade student at TVEMS, and was a WOW Student of the Year in 2013-2014 school year. She is a member of 4-H, and attends the First United Methodist Church in Parsons. Her career ambition is to work in a zoo.

Karly Brooke Kyle, 11, is the daughter of David and Amber Kyle of Parsons and the granddaughter of Gary and Ann Moats of Grafton. She has two sisters, Kelsey and Kensie.

Karley is a 6th grade student at TVEMS where she was a WOW Student of the Year and is a young writers winner, and attends the Church of the Covenant Acolyte. Her career ambition is to become a TV producer and win a Golden Globe award or an Emmy.

Childrens’ Division

Contestants

Sidney Nicole Knotts, 2, is the daughter of Charles and Heather Knotts and the granddaughter of John and Dottie Nestor and Rick and Betty Largesse of Hambleton. She has one sister, Autumn, age 11.

Sidney attends the Sunday School at the Church of God in Parsons and likes to color, watching Sponge Bob on TV and playing with her dishes.

Ashbey Parker Darlington, 4, is the daughter of Patrick & Ashleigh Darlington of Parsons and the granddaughter of Scott and Sherry Banks of Stephens City, Va., and Gene and Sandy Darlington of Buckhannon. She has one sister, Shaleigh, age 9.

Ashbey attends Pre-School at TVEMS, attends the Dance by Farrah, attends Riverview Chapel youth group and loves to draw, paint, sing, dance and loves to be in the kitchen helping to cook and bake. She also loves to garden, learning interesting facts about animals and being outdoors in the sun.

Johnna Kay Ruth Mullenax, 6, is the daughter of Debbie Thompson and Scott Friend and the granddaughter of John and Debra Thompson, the late Shirley Summerfield and the late Nellie and Gilbert Summerfield, and the great granddaughter of the late Catherine “Kay” Napolean of Parsons and Ruth Mullennex of Harman.

Elissa Lydia Phillips, 8, is the daughter of Katie and Daniel Worles of Parsons and the granddaughter of Tom and Patty Worles, Becky and Tom Marsh and David and Beverly Bennett of Parsons. She has two brothers, Daniel and Lukas Worles.

She is a second grade student at TVEMS and attends the St. John’s Church in Parsons. She likes to color, play with friends and play dress up. She also likes to help others and enjoys playing with her baby brother.

Isabelle Gray Hauser, 7, is the daughter of Terry and Jill Hauser of Eglon and the granddaughter of Jerry and Barbara Hauser and Sam and Patti Masters. She has two brothers, Andrew and Jacob. She is a third grade student at Davis-Thomas Elementary School, a cloverbud member of the Country Exployers 4-H Club, a cheerleader for the Aurora Youth Basketball and attends the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Maple Spring Sprouts youth group and youth choir. She is an animal lover, working with crafts, doing gymnastics and has been showing her lambs in the open show at the Garrett County Fair for three years.

Shaleigh Eugenea Darlington, 9, is the daughter of Patrick and Ashleigh Darlington of Parsons and the granddaughter of Scott and Sherry Banks of Stephens City, Va., and Gene and Sandy Darlington of Buckhannon. She has one sister, Ashbey.

Shaleigh is a fourth grade student at TVEMS, attends the Riverview Chapel Church youth group, takes piano lessons, plays basketball and softball. She loves seafood, sports, singing, dancing, swimming, reading, writing her own music, writing poems and stories, drawing, cooking and baking, and loves to watch the Discovery Channel on TV.

Shayla Renee Mason, 9, is the daughter of Wendell and Laura Cantrell of St. George and the granddaughter of Raymond and Sue Mason of Parsons and Pasty Cantrell of Richmond, Ky. She has two brothers and sisters.

Shayla is a fourth grade student at TVEMS and is in 4-H. She loves strawberries, playing with her 4-H feeder steer, helping mom and dad on the farm any way she can.

Braylynn Larae Yarbrough, 9, is the daughter of Chrys and Tara Yarbrough and the granddaughter of Charles and Jo Yarbrough, Ben and Ruthie Yarbrough, Judy Wilke and Robert Spears, Tommy and JoAnn Hynds, all of Texas. She has one brother, Dakota.

Braelynn is a fourth grade student at TVEMS, and attends the St. Johns United Methodist Church and Jr. Youth Group. She enjoys singing, writing songs, doing makeup and hair for others, spending time with animals and making people laugh. She also likes to volunteer at the ASPCA and loves science.

Laney Grace Burns, 8, is the daughter of Mark & Stephanie Burns of St. George and the granddaughter of Paul and Kenanette Burns of St. George and Danny and Phyllis Carr of Parsons. She has one sister, Samantha Bramble and one brother, Tanner, 14, and a new brother-in-law, Jonathan Bramble.

Laney is a third grade student at TVEMS, a Cloverbud member of the Four Leaf Clovers 4-H Club, and attends the Good Tidings Assembly of God Church. She likes to watch make-up tutorials, reading and drawing, and her favorite foods are mac and cheese and popcorn.

The pageant is one of the many events being held at the Tucker County Fair.
