Holland speaks to H.A.S. students

Highland Adventist School students recently learned about the important role our military men and women fill in protecting our freedom.

Col. Richard Holland, WVARNG, retired, and a local Elkins businessman, spoke to the entire student body about his military

service.

The group enjoyed stories about Holland’s work in Iraq, information about the culture he encountered there and many photographs of his adventures in the military. The students returned to their classrooms to write letters of support to active duty

servicemen.

“We appreciate Col. Holland taking the time to share his experiences with the students,” Cheryl Jacko, principal, said. “We believe it is important to teach our students to respect and honor the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform.”
