Barger earns honor

The 2014 Maryida Mosby Travel Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Legacy “Skout” Barger on April 26 at the West Virginia State Alpha Delta Kappa Convention at Ogleby Park in Wheeling.

Barger was the guest speaker at the state convention and luncheon and will be invited to share her travels with civic and community organizations once she returns from her travels. She is a student at Elkins High School and was sponsored by Phi Chapter.

Barger plans to use this travel experience to gain a better understanding of cultural issues around the world and will use this as a major part of her junior research paper and senior project.

The Maryida Mosby Travel Scholarship is awarded in memory of Maryida Mosby, an active Alpha Delta Kappa member and former state president. She was also a highly respected social studies teacher from Charleston. She believed that travel improved better world understanding through first-hand experiences. This scholarship is funded by Alpha Delta Kappa, which is thrilled to help sponsor Barger on her journey of a lifetime.
