Tucker County receives grant funds
PARSONS – Tucker County was recently presented with a grant from the Records Management and Preservation Board for $16,045 for the Tucker County Clerk’s office.
The award was presented to Tucker County Clerk Sherry Simmons by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.
The grant funds will be used to purchase roller shelving for the land books stored in the County Clerk’s vault. Simmons said this shelving will improve the management and preservation of the county’s records and benefit the citizens. Residents use these books to reference both business and historical transactions of county government.
Tomblin commended Simmons for her efforts to enhance access to Tucker County’s public records.
Simmons said she is working to secure additional grant monies to use for rebinding and encapsulation of county record books.
