Buckhannon man facing five charges

A Buckhannon man faces a variety of charges following an investigation in which Upshur County Sheriff’s deputies alleged he discharged a weapon inside a residence with several adults and three children present.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s department, Bradley Bennett, 31, is charged with domestic battery-second offense, wanton endangerment, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Deputies were dispatched to 27 Tuggle St. for a 911 call Monday evening, according to the press release. Deputies determined that Bennett had allegedly been involved in an altercation with his wife and had fled in a vehicle prior to the deputies’ arrival. According to the press release, the deputies also learned that Bennett had allegedly discharged a pistol inside the residence with several adults and three children present.

The press release stated that Bennett was stopped a short time later on U.S. 33 by law enforcement and taken into custody without incident.

He was arraigned before Upshur County Magistrate Mike Coffman, who set Bennett’s bond at $120,000.
