Anniversaries

Denver R. and Betty L. Caynor celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 7. The couple was married Aug. 7, 1948, by the late Rev. Howard Wilfong.

Denver Caynor is the son of the late Harley and Jeanette Caynor. He is retired from the Buckhannon Housing Authority.

Betty Caynor is the former Betty Sipe, daughter of the late Oscar and Myrtle Sipe. She is a homemaker. The couple has one son, Dennie Caynor, who has a wife, Margie. They have two grandsons, Theron Caynor and Nicholas Caynor and his wife Michelle, all from Buckhannon. They have five great-grandchildren: Olivia, Owen, Savannah, Annabelle and Sarah.

Anniversaries

Willard “Bill” Raymond McVicker and Lawanda Genell “Gen” McVicker were married on June 6, 1953, in Annapolis Junction, Md.

Bill was born in 1931 in the Bunner’s Ridge neighborhood of Fairmont, but lived most of his life in the state of Maryland. He was in the commerical building profession and built many outstanding structures in that state. He was a senior superintendent on many schools throughout his 40-plus year career.

He also worked in the state of West Virginia as a consultant for a commerical company in Elkins before retiring in 2010. Genell was born in Blackwater, Va., in 1931 and moved to Maryland when she was a young girl. She worked for several firms as a secretary, working over 20 years for the General Electric Co. in Columbia, Md., before her retirement in 1996.

They resided in Maryland for more than 40 years, but have lived in Canaan Valley for the last 10 years. They have two children and three grandchildren, all of whom love them. Happy anniversary and congratulations on your 60 years of commitment and care!

Anniversaries

Chris and Cherri invite you for cake and punch to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of their parents, Jim and Judy Knorr today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Riverbend Golf Club at EvUnBreth in Buckhannon.

The Knorrs were married Aug. 3, 1963, at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church in Parkersburg by the groom’s father, the Rev. Dr. James W. Knorr Jr. Jim taught vocal music in Upshur County schools for 38 years and served six years on the Buckhannon City Council and six years as the mayor of Buckhannon.

They have been blessed with two children, along with their spouses and four grandchildren.
