Kenneth and Sharon Burgess
Kenneth and Sharon Burgess of Beverly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 9 with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Gatlinburg, Tenn. After a day of activities, their children honored them with a dinner and anniversary cake.
The couple met at a roller skating rink in Canaan Valley in September 1964.
They were married July 9, 1966, at Midland Presbyterian Church on the Country Club Road in Elkins. They have resided in Beverly since 1973.
Mrs. Burgess is the former Sharon Tingler, daughter of the late Emmett and Nola Tingler. She has worked at Wal-Mart since its doors opened in 1990. She enjoys traveling.
Mr. Burgess is the son of the late John and Sylvia Burgess. He retired in the fall of 2003 from Operating Engineers 132 after 40 years of service. He enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hunter.
They are the parents of three daughters, Jodi Shupp, Michelle Burgess Pratt and husband, Seth, and Shelby Burgess. They also have seven grandchildren, Brandon and Kristen Shupp, Curtis Conrad, Emily Conrad Timmons and husband, Joel, Jaden Pratt, Allyson Smith and Kenton Smith; and four great-grandchildren.
