Raymond E. “Dutch” Summerfield will celebrate his 90th birthday with a family dinner at the Steer Steakhouse on Sunday.
Mr. Summerfield was born June 26, 1923, at Bowden, a son of the late Branson and Grace Summerfield.
He served in the United States Army from January 1943 until October 1945, serving with the 434th Fighter Control Squadron. He is a World War II veteran, having served in the following battles and campaigns: Rome-Arno, Southern and Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe, including Germany and Italy.
Mr. Summerfield was married to the late Nina Vandevender, and they had celebrated 39 years of marriage.
He has one sister, Carolyn Elza; and five stepchildren, Ralph Vandevender and wife, Faye, Roger Vandevender and wife, Alice, Richard Vandevender and wife, Merrill, Wayne Vandevender and Diane Coberly and husband, Dave, all of the Montrose and Kerens area. He also has several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Glen Summerfield, and one sister, Ruth Thrasher, are deceased.

Lois Eileen Bond will turn 90 on June 7. She was born in 1923 at Junior, and is the daughter of the late Austin and Cora Blake. She has been married twice, and both husbands are deceased. She worked several years at Reidbord.
She has two daughters, Gloria Ann Talbott Chapman and the late Phyllis Shatley; and one son, Roger Talbott, with whom she resides in Buckhannon.
She has two sisters, Opal Faye Shomo and the late Betty Blake; and three brothers, Gary Blake, Neal Blake and the late Austin Blake Jr. She has nine grandchildren, including Tony Talbott and Rex Talbott, who are both deceased. She also has nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
