50 Years

Robert and Patricia Scott O’Brien celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 11.

They were married in the rectory of St. Brendan Catholic Church by Father Charles Doyle on Jan. 11, 1964, with their parents Rob and Nellie Scott and Ed and Pearl O’Brien in attendance. Matron of Honor and Best Man were Jackie and Bob Bright.

They are the parents of three sons and have several grandchildren.

Mr. O’Brien had a 31-year career in the U.S. Postal Service in Columbus, Ohio, and then worked in delivery and logistics for several companies, retiring in 2008. Since retirement, he has been an essayist, and as “bobsluckycat” a movie reviewer for Archive.org, and, recently with the publication of his Western novel, “The Can’t Miss Kid,” an author.

Mrs. O’Brien was an award-winning employee of Stouffer’s Dublin Hotel and of nursing homes in the Columbus, Ohio, and Clearwater, Fla., areas, where she also won several outstanding employee awards. She retired in 2006.

A quiet celebration was hosted Jan. 11 in the commons area of their condo with a few friends and relatives and condo neighbors in attendance. They currently reside in Columbus, Ohio.

50 Years

Eugene and Gerri Rosencrance celebrated their 50th anniversary on Oct. 19 at the Elks County Club during the wedding reception of their grandaughter, Jenna Rae Biller and Michael Lewis.

They were married at the First United Methodist Church of Elkins on Oct. 19, 1963 with the reception following in the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Rosencrance was escorted down the aisle by her brother, Willis Lee McCollam, who gave her away along with her mother, Geraldine Lenore McCollam. Her father, Willis Lee McCollam Sr. was deceased.

Mr. Rosencrances’s parents, Roy Wilson and Francis Rosencrance, were both in attendance.

Their wedding party consisted of Kay Frances (Rosencrance) Camplese, Karen (Ferguson) Stalnaker and Mary (Eubanks) Copsy, David Goddin, Leonard Phillips and Bill Snedegar. Ricky Carder served as ring bearer and Robin Stewart as flower girl.

They have three children – Lee and his fiance, Molly, of Huntington and their two sons, Cory and Jarred and a third son, Shane, in South Carolina; their daughter Lisa, and her husband, Mike Galford, and one daughter, Josie, of Marlinton, and her secon daughter Jenna is married and lives in Elkins; and Mark and his wife, LaDonna, of Elkins and two children, Kaylee and Alex.

Mr. Rosencrance has one sibling, Kay Frances Rosencrance Camplese, who is married to Don Camplese of Marco Island, Fla.

Mrs. Rosencrance has several siblings, Betty Lemieux of Rhode Island, Gene of Colorado along with Jean Cromer, Patricia Coen, Donna Cochran, Donald McCollam, John McCollam and Willis Lee McCollam Jr., all of the Elkins area.

The couple has lived in Virginia twice, but the majority of their married life has been spent in Elkins.
