The Bard Family will come together over Labor Day weekend for fellowship and to celebrate the life of Helene Bard, who passed away last year at 100 years of age.

Ronald and Helene Bard moved to Elkins in 1952 and opened the family business, Bard Motors, holding the Chrysler franchise here for almost 40 years. The Bards were active in Girl Scouts, Elkins Junior High and High School Bands, Rotary, Women’s Club and the First United Methodist Church.

Family members will be traveling to Elkins from Colorado, Florida, London, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Vermont, and include Rollin and Kathy Bard, Janet M. Bard and Lynette Bard and husband, Paul Rix. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren will also be in town.

The weekend will culminate in a Memorial Service for Helene Bard on Sept. 1 at First United Methodist Church on Kerens Ave. with visitation at 2 p.m. and service at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
