Mr. and Mrs. Ben Rankin

Lauren Nicole Walsh, daughter of former Elkins resident Sherry Bennett Walsh and Mike Walsh of Nolensville, Tennessee, and Ben Rankin, son of Rob and Leigh Rankin of Nolensville, Tennessee, were married May 26. The outdoor celebration was held at the Elkins riverside cabin of the bride’s grandparents, Calvin and Margaret Bennett. The Rev. Allison Gossett, life-long friend of the bride and a pastor at Brentwood United Methodist Church in Brentwood, Tennessee officiated.

The “bride’s team” consisted of maid and matron of honor, Hallie King and Kali Gibson, as well as bridesmaids Kara Castle, Jen Schifano, Lindsay Carson, Tori Domico and sisters of the groom, Natalie Rankin and Allison Clayton.

Jonathan Rankin, the groom’s brother, served as best man. Other groomsmen included Ryan Walsh, brother of the bride, Chris Roos, Matt Loshin, Newton Dominey, Danny Weisemann and Will Reynolds. Reynolds also has the distinction of generously donating one of his kidneys this past December to the bridegroom.

To reach the ceremony site, guests and wedding party were treated to an old-fashioned hayride. “The Wedding Trolley” was driven by Alan and David Bennett of Morgantown.

The wedding party walked down a leaf-laden path to where a canopy of mountain laurels provided the perfect backdrop (and shielded the guests from a few minutes of light rain) for exchanging vows. In keeping with the rustic theme and in lieu of flower girls, 4 year-olds Roman Roos and Luke Dominey served as corn boys tossing shelled corn as they proceeded down the laurel lane. Corn was promptly consumed by wildlife after the ceremony.

The bride graduated from Belmont University in Nashville in 2014 with a degree in entertainment industry studies and from Chattanooga State Community College in 2018 with a degree as a physical therapy assistant.

The bridegroom graduated from Belmont University in 2015 with a degree in exercise science. He is currently attending Chattanooga State Community College majoring in nursing.

After a honeymoon to Belize, they are residing in Chattanooga,TN.

Before the ceremony the couple, along with their photographer, Donnie Hedden and wife, Audria, from Santa Ynez, California, motored to Dolly Sods, a favorite hiking place of the newlyweds, for a photo op to honor the occasion.
