Ware takes on role at local WIC office

Ware

The Elkins-Randolph WIC office recently announced the hiring of Certified Lactation Counselor Debbie Ware.

Ware received her CLC certificate in May 2015 through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice and has counseled countless women in their efforts to have a happy and successful breastfeeding experience.

Part of her duties as a breastfeeding counselor for the WIC nutrition program will include pre-natal education classes, post-natal support, hospital visits with new mothers and, in the future, a local support group for breastfeeding mothers.

“The feeding of human milk to babies and the practice of breastfeeding has been shown to improve the health, immune system and the development of children,” said Gina Hinkle, breastfeeding coordinator for the agency. “The benefits of breastfeeding, both for children and for women, last long after breastfeeding has ended, so Debbie’s role as breastfeeding advocate is extremely important.”

“Debbie has also proved to be a perfect fit with the Elkins staff,” Hinkle added. “She hasn’t hesitated in getting involved with many special events and activities.

“We are very happy to welcome Debbie to our office and increasing our breastfeeding knowledge to the community,” said Jodi Kyle, the Elkins-Randolph County office coordinator.

The Elkins-Randolph office serves women in Randolph, Barbour and Tucker counties. For more information or to contact Ware, call 304-636-8100.
