PURR celebrating adoption numbers

People United for Rescue and Rehabilitation (PURR) West Virginia, Inc., is announcing an extra date to celebrate: on Saturday, PURR will be having an “extra” Adoption Event from 12 p.m-5 p.m. at PETCO, 4101 University Town Center Drive, Morgantown(Visit www.petco.com for driving directions).

“This weekend is an ‘extra date to celebrate,” PURR Executive Director Lorna Vincent Venter said, “because we have so many wonderful happenings at PURR! The volunteers, shelter managers, and I are looking forward to a fantastic new year of promoting cat awareness and care!”

Chief among PURR’s celebrations is the fact that in 2012, the agency doubled its number of cat adoptions to 524 cats. In 2013, PURR has already adopted out 34 cats and kittens and with an “extra date to celebrate,” officials are hoping to continue the growing numbers of successful adoptions.

Donations are also needed for the PURR shelter. Winter is a difficult time because the costs of heating are high. All donations to PURR are tax deductible. See www.purrwv.org for an easy link to donate using PayPal. Donations of paper towels, black 30-gallon trash bags, white kitchen trash bags, Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, towels, blankets, and money also can be dropped off at 306 Beech Street in Grafton or at Eastern Pet Supply in Bridgeport,.

PURR prides itself on having well-adjusted, socialized cats ready for a place in your heart and home. PURR is a no-kill, all-volunteer, cat-only shelter/rescue that is saving lives and making the world a more humane place one animal at a time. All the cats have been spayed/neutered; vaccinated, tested, wormed and micro-chipped.

Ready to adopt but can’t make the adoption event? Adopt at Eastern Pet Supply at Bridgeport every day.

The shelter is located in Grafton. Please email to help@PURRWV.ORG or call 304-265-4671 for an appointment to visit. PURR has kittens and cats of all ages, shapes, colors and sizes. Want a de-clawed kitty? PURR has them, too.

PURR is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization working hard to help change the reality of cats and kittens through education about the no-kill movement and the importance of spay and neuter.
