Sen. Manchin congratulates Gov. Tomblin

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., issued the following statement about Monday’s state inauguration ceremony for Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and other statewide executive branch officers.

Manchin was in New York for a morning meeting of No Labels, a citizens-led organization he co-chairs that is promoting bipartisan commonsense solutions to our nation’s challenges.

“On this historic day, Gayle and I send our sincerest congratulations to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, First Lady Joanne and their family and to the other statewide officials who are being sworn in today.” Manchin said.

“My friend, Gov. Tomblin, has worked throughout his career to put West Virginia first and to improve our great state, and today is a celebration of his unwavering commitment to public service.

“As First Lady, Joanne truly serves us with the utmost distinction,” Manchin said. “Gayle and I wish her only the best as she continues to be a wonderful role model for our next generation.

“As we gather today to honor public service, we reflect on West Virginia’s proud history and heritage and embark on a promising and exciting future. I always say that the best politics is good government, and I look forward to continue to work with Gov. Tomblin and our state’s elected officials to bring responsible government to the people of West Virginia and to ensure a better tomorrow for our children and grandchildren.”
