West Virginia native, pop singer publicizes PURR

People United for Rescue and Rehabilitation (PURR) West Virginia Inc. announced that recording artist Lauren Winans, a native West Virginian, recently visited the shelter and filmed a public service announcement about spaying and neutering pets with the PURR babies.

Winans, who has released two singles, “Burn a Little More” and “You’re Gonna Luv It,” available at iTunes and Amazon.com, stated, “I am a singer/songwriter in Nashville, Tenn., but I am originally from West Virginia. I am so happy to have found a no-kill shelter, locally in West Virginia, that I believe in so much!”

Asked why she got involved in the PSA, Winans revealed, “I fell in love with PURR as soon as I heard about all the wonderful things they do for these cats and kittens. Once I stepped inside the kitty headquarters, I was so excited. The cats are free to roam and play with each other (as long as no one is sick) and all the volunteers are wonderful! If you want to adopt, head to PURR.”

The PSA emphasizes the need to stop unwanted litters by spaying and neutering early and sheltering and adopting cats and kittens. It will be released to local and national media soon. Winans’ website www.laurenwinans.com will also promote the PSA.

As a volunteer nonprofit animal rescue and rehabilitation program, PURR’s efforts rely on donations. Your donations go directly to the cats and kittens that PURR West Virginia helps. You are supporting a registered 501(c)3 organization so your donations are tax deductible.

Donations are also needed for the PURR shelter. Winter is a difficult time because the costs of heating are high. See www.purrwv.org for an easy link to donate using PayPal. Donations of paper towels, black 30-gallon trash bags, white kitchen trash bags, Lysol wipes, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, towels, blankets and money also can be dropped off at 306 Beech St. in Grafton or at Eastern Pet Supply, Bridgeport.
