Modern Homettes CEOS conduct meeting

The Modern Homettes CEOS Club conducted the monthly meeting Jan. 3 at the Home of Lucy Mullins, with Dea Harris as co-hostess.

The meeting was called to order by Mullins. The pledge was recited by all. A meditation entitled “Today We Will” was presented by Vice President Sheila Thomason. No minutes were read because of December Christmas activities.

The treasurer’s report was given by Mullins. Cindy Phillips made a motion to accept the report, seconded by Ethel Andrews. The motion carried. The treasurer’s report was placed on file for audit at a later date.

Dec. 6 was the annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange at the 88 Restaurant. Members brought 17 pairs of hats and mittens for Head Start and toys for the Christmas Store. Mullins delivered eight blankets of hope to the hospice center. Modern Homettes won third place in the Christmas ornament contest. The Christmas raffle winners were: Blaine Winkler, $100 Sheetz card; Judy Tenney, $75 Walmart card; and Carol Haymond, $50 Kroger card. The Tallmansville CEOS club sold the most tickets.

The County Council and Advisory Board meeting at the West Virginia University Extension Office was Jan. 10. The Strawberry Festival Committee met Jan. 11. A spring achievement committee meeting also was Jan. 11. On Jan. 30, the County Committee Reports were due to the state chairperson. Club scrapbooks and histories are due to the West Virginia University Extension Office.

Learn ‘n Return for April, May and June was Feb. 11.

Based on a lack of interest, members decided not to participate in the Health Motivator Program.

The lesson for the evening was given by Mullins. It was “Connecting with Others Using the Five Love Languages.” The five love languages are words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, quality time and physical touch.

Andrews installed the club officers for 2013: Lucy Mullins, president; Sheila Thomason, vice president; Donna Bennett, secretary; and Dea Harris, treasurer.

The January meeting adjourned and refreshments were served to Ethel Andrews, Lucy Mullins, Bennett, Harris, Stanley Mullins, Mae Collins, Shirley Spreacker, Cindy Phillips and Sheila Thomason.
