Plans under way for annual Weston 5K

The Weston 5K Run and Wellness Walk will again provide a race for racers and walkers of all ages.

The annual event will be April 20 in downtown Weston. The regular Walk/Run will begin at 10 a.m. The Weston Wee Run for children 10 years old and younger will begin at 11 a.m. Young participants will run from East Second Street to First Street, along Court Avenue. New this year will be the addition of dogs to walk with their owners.

Physical therapist John Weber will again provide five weeks of training beginning March 18. Participants will meet at 6 p.m. Mondays, March 18-25 and April 1-8-15, by the St. Patrick gym. He will provide information on stretching, proper gear and the proposed route over the five weeks of preparation.

Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, the city of Weston and Saint Patrick Church and School cooperate for the event. This year, the race will provide long-sleeved shirts instead of T-shirts.

Prizes in both the female and male contests are $150 for first place, $75 for second place and $25 for third place.

Registration forms can be obtained by going to www.stonewallhospital.com.
