Support grows for yearly Run for It race

Pledges from The Bernard McDonough Foundation, Allegheny Energy, Run Jeb, Run!, St. George Medical Clinic, Kingsford Manufacturing, Wendy’s of North Central West Virginia and Dave and Edi Vernon are leading the 2013 race sponsor campaign for the Tucker Community Foundation Run For It program.

Sponsors provide incentive for the hundreds that line up the last weekend in September to walk, run or roll to raise support and awareness for community causes throughout the eight-county region served by the Foundation.

Sponsors are featured on the back of event shirts designed and provided by East-West Printing of Davis.

Any individual, group or business that would like to join the growing list of Run For It sponsors can call 304-259-5008 before March 15 to pledge support for the 2013 race. No money is due now; donors are invoiced prior to Sept. 1.

The Foundation seeds the race day’s award purse with $10,000, and race sponsors build the purse by donating any amount over $100. Sponsor support has grown the purse from $14,000 in 2007 to more than $38,000 last year. Last year more than 80 sponsors were featured on event shirts.

Run For It shirts will go on sale starting April 1.

In addition to the shirts, race sponsors are recognized throughout the campaign in print media, on finish line posters and in the Foundation’s Annual Report circulated to more than 40,000 homes. All contributions are tax deductible.
