Stonewall to host food event
WESTON – Spanish food and wine will be the focal point of Stonewall Resort’s second annual Taste of the Spanish Coast on Feb. 22 featuring a tapas style (small plates) menu accompanied by specially selected Spanish wines.
“Food and wine lovers are in for a special evening as our culinary team prepares a cornucopia of tapas style gourmet treats to be paired with Spanish wines chosen by an internationally acclaimed sommelier from Madrid,” Chris Steffich, director of food and beverage at Stonewall Resort, said. “Seating is limited and last year’s event sold out, so make your reservations today.”
Steffich said the event, which begins at 7 p.m., features a centuries-old Spanish tradition of eating small portions of eclectic foods called tapat” accompanied by both red and white wines. He noted that the tradition of tapas originated in Spain during the 1600s and continues today as a staple of contemporary Spanish cuisine.
The Stonewall culinary team will work with Kysela Pere et Fils (a fine wine importing company based in Winchester, Va.) and sommelier Jens Riis from Madrid to prepare a truly special gourmet meal with accompanying Spanish wines.
Here are just some of the culinary treats from this year’s Tapas menu: serrano ham and queso blanco stuffed cherry peppers; bacon wrapped scallops with salsa verde; cherry tomatoes stuffed with Spanish olive tapenade; fried oysters with spicy marinara; chili roasted new potatoes; crispy boursin stuffed artichokes; spiced garbanzo; crispy calamari with saffron aioli; herb seared tuna loin with Romesco sauce; almond crusted chevre; steamed mussels with saffron, chiles and lime and more.

Steffich also noted that guests will be able to enjoy the just completed renovation of the indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubs as well as live entertainment by a Spanish guitarist.
