ROCK CAVE — One person was injured after a motor-vehicle crash on Rock Cave Road north of U.S. 19.

The Upshur County Communications Center dispatched Banks District firefighters to assist the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department regarding a reported traffic crash Thursday evening.

First arriving fire crews on scene discovered that a 2003 Subaru Forester, which was traveling south on Rock Cave Road, had left the roadway and careened through a barbed-wire fence.  The vehicle then traveled up an embankment before overturning and coming to rest in the ditch line.  One lane of traffic remained open as emergency responders worked to clear the scene and law enforcement to conduct the crash investigation.

The driver of the vehicle was initially treated at the scene for injuries by fire medical personnel along with Lewis County EMS crew members prior to being transported to a Lewis County hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
