ELKINS — The Arts Center’s annual Mardi Gras Celebration is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday. This year’s celebration features a New Orleans-style buffet of southern dishes, dancing and live entertainment.

“We love offering a Mardi Gras celebration every year, and this one is going to be one for the ages,” said The Arts Center Executive Director Kurt Barkley. “In addition to our food and fun, as our musical guests we have Hybrid Soul Project from Charleston. They are just an outstanding band, and will be playing funk, R&B, soul, Motown and covers from the ’60’s through the present. Singer Shayla Leftridge performed at our final Elkins Auto Blues Series show, and I knew we had to get her full band here for Mardi Gras.”

Charlie Friddle III, chairman of The Arts Center’s Board of Directors, encourages everyone in the community to join in the festivities.

“The Mardi Gras event is one of our major fundraisers of the year at The Arts Center. It is a time to join together to share food, fellowship, and music while providing much-needed support for the center. I look forward to seeing you there,” Friddle said.

Leftridge, singer for Hybrid Soul Project, said she and her band are excited to play the Mardi Gras celebration.

“While this is not my first time playing in Elkins, it is a first for Hybrid Soul Project,” Leftridge said. “I am excited to introduce Hybrid Soul to the music lovers of Elkins. If we were to describe our sound we would call it Afro-Lachian Funky Soul.”

Tickets are available at The Arts Center office, online at www.randolpharts.org and at the door. For more information, visit the website or contact The Arts Center office at 304-637-2355.
