Buckhannon church recognized for service

The First Baptist Church in Buckhannon was recognized by the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Project for its service for five years as an official drop-off location for gift-filled shoe boxes that are delivered to children in crisis situations all over the world.

Presenting the award on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse was Bob Cowgill, logistics coordinator for the Elkins area Operations Christmas Child Volunteer Team.

The inscription on the award reads “Operation Christmas Child recognizes the First Baptist Church in appreciation of five years of partnership with Operation Christmas Child as an offical drop-off location.

“Your love for the Lord Jesus Christ is demonstrated through your service and compassion for others.

“God bless you for making a difference in the lives of children and their families through Operation Christmas Child.”

The award was signed by Franklin Graham, president of Samaritans Purse.
