ELKINS — Gerald Allen Freeman, 42, of Moatsville, was convicted for methamphetamine distribution, acting United States Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen, announced.

Freeman admitted Friday to distributing methamphetamine on Jan. 19, 2016 in Barbour County.

Freeman pled guilty to one count of distribution of methamphetamine. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

The Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force investigated.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
