Tucker County announces senior news
PARSONS — The Parsons Center will celebrate Valentine’s Day Thursday because of the snow storm that was expected this week. The program will begin at 10:30 a.m. with music by the Goldenaires Choir. The day will conclude with the crowning of the Queen and King of Valentines, who were voted on by the participants at the center.
Along with the Valentine’s celebration, the Parsons Center will be honoring those seniors who have birthdays in February. West Virginia Caring will provide the birthday cake for dessert.
The Mt. Top Center will host its paper products bingo Thursday and the Parsons Center will host theirs Friday after lunch.
Both the Parsons and Mt. Top centers will be closed Feb. 20 for President’s Day. They will reopen Feb. 21 at regularly scheduled times
The Mt. Top Center will host its monthly outpost Feb. 21. Those attending are asked to bring their favorite covered dish and join in the fun and fellowship.
The Tucker County Health Department, Davis Medical Center and the West Virginia University Tucker County Extension Office will sponsor a “LOVE YOUR HEART” program at the Parsons Senior Center Feb. 23. Free blood pressure, glucose and weight screenings will begin at 5:30 p.m. This will be followed with a program on keeping your heart healthy. There will be a question and answer session following the program. Heart healthy snacks and door prizes will be available. Names are still being taken for the April 24 trip to Washington, Pennsylvania to the Casino and Tanger Outlets.
There are seats still available for the Pirates baseball game July 20. Seats are behind home plate. This is several months away, but if enough people are not signed up, the trip will be canceled. To make a reservation, call the Parsons Center.
