Tucker County Senior Center announces upcoming events

PARSONS – The Tucker County Senior Center is still taking names for the April 24 trip to Washington, Pennsylvania to the Casino and Tanger Outlets. Payment will be collected on March 9.

There are seats remaining for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game on July 20. The center has obtained excellent seats behind home plate. While the trip is several months away, if enough people do not sign up, the trip will have to be cancelled. If interested, please call the Parsons Center and get your name on the list before the seats fill up.

There are approximately 40 names on the list for a beach trip. Plans are being made for a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from Sept. 10 to 15.

This will include a stop in North Carolina on the way home. As soon as plans are finalized the trip will be advertised in detail. If you are interested, please call the Parsons Center at 304-478-2423 to add your name to the list.

Those who sign up will be called in the order of the list to confirm they are making the trip.

The Senior Center quilters and sewers are working very hard on their new projects but they need more help. The quilters are working on a beautiful pink dahlia quilt and the sewers are piecing together a multicolored double wedding ring quilt top to be quilted when the dahlia is done. If you can help, especially with quilting, please come to the Parsons Center on Thursdays. They quilt after lunch, from noon until 2 p.m., and any help will be greatly appreciated. You may also want to come at 10:30 a.m. and hear our Goldenaires Choir sing before enjoying lunch and fellowship.

The representative from the West Virginia Department of Veteran’s Affairs is scheduled to be at the Parsons Center at 10 a.m. on Thursday. If you have a concern, you can come speak with him in the downstairs office.
