Blue & Gray Reunion needs volunteers

Mary Poling and Sue Edwards, members of the Barbour County Association of School Employees, volunteer their time to set up and work the information tent for the Blue & Gray Reunion last year.

PHILIPPI — Mary Poling and Sue Edwards, members of the Barbour County Association of School Employees, volunteered their time last year to set up and work the information tent for the Blue & Gray Reunion.

They set the tent and prepared the tables to receive reunion memorabilia.

The BCASE is one of a number of local organizations that have volunteered in the past to operate the information tent for the weekend activities.

“Lots of community volunteers are needed to set up, conduct and take down the June 1-4, 2017, 28th annual Blue & Gray Reunion. We look forward to working with a large group of community members who are willing to volunteer their time to this annual weekend event full of activities,” said Reunion Chairperson Ed Larry.

Volunteers may offer to work the information tent throughout the weekend, to help set up the nearly 40 crafters or 14 food vendors and then to help with the taking down of the crafters and vendors, to assist with the operation of Kids’ Day/Walking History, to work the Civil War Ball, to help the sponsors of the Horse and Buggy Parade and the Grand Parade, to help with the kayak and SUP races and the 5K race, and various other “behind the scenes” work that goes into offering the region this annual event.

Community members wanting to volunteer for the 28th Annual Blue & Gray Reunion are asked to call 304-457-3773.
