TALLMANSVILLE — The Tallmansville Baptist Church was recognized by Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Project for its service for five years as an official drop-off location for gift filled shoeboxes that are delivered to children in crisis situations all over the world.

Presenting the award on behalf of Samaritan’s Purse was Bob Cowgill, logistics coordinator for the Elkins area Operation Christmas Child Volunteer Team. The Elkins team is responsible for Randolph County and the five adjoining counties. Last year, the Elkins Volunteer Team collected 12,315 gift filled shoeboxes.

The inscription on the framed award reads, “Operation Christmas Child recognizes the Tallmansville Baptist Church in appreciation of five years of partnership with Operation Christmas Child as an official drop off location. Your love for the Lord Jesus Christ is demonstrated through your service and compassion for others. God bless you for making a difference in the lives of children and their families through Operation Christmas Child. Signed: Franklin Graham, President, Samaritan’s Purse.”

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for such is the kingdom of God” Luke 18:16

Jane Bennett is the Tallmansville drop-off team leader. Anyone who would like to be involved in this ministry can contact Jane at 304-472-7960 or Cowgill at 304-636-6367.
