PHILIPPI — As they have done so many years in the past, members of the Future Business Leaders of America Club at Philip Barbour High School will “run” the door prizes during the annual banquet meeting of the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber Vice President Reg Trefethen will serve as the Master of Ceremonies May 12 at Alderson Broaddus University. A punch-bowl reception starting at 6 p.m. will give attendees an opportunity to meet the banquet speaker W. Wood “Woodie” Thrasher. The public is invited. Advance reservations may be made with the Chamber office.

Thrasher was appointed by Gov, Jim Justice last December to be the new Secretary of Commerce of West Virginia. Thrasher is the former president and CEO of Thrasher Engineering in Bridgeport. Special guests include the Rev. Bryan Headley, pastor of the Silent Grove Church, the Rev. Fr. James O’Connor of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church and Korean Army veteran Okey Gallien.

This year’s live dinner music will be provided by Dr. Chuck Ervin, while engraved awards are to be presented to several organizations and individuals for their significant service to the community during the year 2016.

Sam Santilli Photography will take complimentary pictures while table flowers are being contributed by Country Blooms Florists. Alderson Broaddus University staff are assisting with decorations. New officers will be elected along with members of the board of directors class of 2019.

For more information, call the Chamber at 304-457-1958 or write to 101 College Hill Drive, Box 2124, Philippi, WV 26416.
