FFA students win at regionals
EKLINS — The Regional FFA Career Development Events took place March 23 in Pendleton County, and Elkins High School came back victorious! Both contestants earn recognition. Sanya Zickefoose won second place in extemporaneous public speaking, and Logan Rowan earned fourth in prepared public speaking.
“Taking part in the speaking contest was a great opportunity,” said Zickefoose, “It helped improve my public speaking skills and gave me the chance to see how other FFA chapters in my region are doing.”
“I was happy to have the opportunity to compete,” said Rowan, “and will take what I learned this year and apply it to next.”
Both students worked hard. Rowan rewrote his manuscript several times, finding more information, and Zickefoose practiced speaking in front of the agriculture class.
“I am so proud of these kids,” said Wendy Thurston, FFA adviser, “They set their minds on what they wanted to do and went for it.”
